Gara Field is in her fifth year as the Girls Varsity Soccer Head Coach and her eigth year as the Director of Global Education & Social Innovation at MB. She has coached and taught at both collegiate and high school levels, including Quinnipiac College (CT), Ethel Walker School (CT), New Hampton School (NH) and Pace Academy (GA). In high school, Gara was a three-sport varsity athlete (soccer, basketball & lacrosse) at New Hampton School (‘87) in New Hampshire and she was inducted into the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 2007 as both a player and coach. In college, Gara played four years of Division I soccer at the University of Hartford (’91) in Connecticut where the Hawks made multiple NCAA tournament appearances under the leadership of CT soccer legend and NCAA D1 Coach of the Year Austin Daniels. Gara received an NCAA Sportsmanship Award as a sophomore and captained the Hawks as a senior. Gara has lived and breathed soccer since she was a little kid and finds joy in watching her kids, Ella (11) and Graysen (5), fall in love with the beautiful game. Gara enjoys coaching alongside Meg Fifer and Catalina Mazo ‘15 and relishes every minute on the pitch season-after-season with talented scholar-athletes who love the game and their team. Field was honored by United Soccer Coaches (USC) with the Rhode Island Independent/ Private School Coach of the Year Award in 2019 when the Quakers won the RIIL Division 2 State Championship under Field, Fifer, and Mazo. In 2022, Field received Coach of the Year honors again by USC when MB’s varsity squad went undefeated in the RIIL regular season. The 2022 MB varsity girls soccer team was spotlighted by United Soccer Coaches with two prestigious national awards, including the Gold High School Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award (coveted by only ten teams nationwide) and the High School Team Academic Award (fewer than 200 girls varsity soccer teams in the U.S. received this honor of academic excellence and MB was only one of 39 high schools nationwide to have both boys and girls varsity teams honored.)
