Senior Parent Gift
As our children near graduation, we're bursting with pride and anticipation for their future as MB alumni. The Moses Brown experience has shaped them with its blend of tradition, innovation, and community values.
Now, it's our turn to continue this legacy by contributing to the Class of 2025 Senior Parent Gift, an longstanding annual tradition at Moses Brown, dating back 1995. Each year, parents of the graduating class come together to honor their children’s experience at MB with a generous collective gift. MB students, including our graduates, have greatly benefited from the support of past senior gifts, including new endowed funds for scholarships, expanded TRIPs opportunities, and the addition of the incredible Woodman Center and the Y-Lab.
Participation is always at the center of the effort which aims for 100% participation from parents and guardians in the Class of 2025. By participating, we honor our seniors and the bonds they have forged at MB. If you've not yet made your gift, please make your gift today here.
Look out for more details from the Senior Parent Gift Committee, and feel free to reach out to Perry Buroker in MB’s Advancement Office for any questions or support (pburoker@mosesbrown.org or 401-8131-7350 ext. 289).

How do we dress for all of the Senior Events?
How do we dress for all of the Senior Events?
(created by Class of 2022 parent committee)
Dress is a reflection of who we are as individuals and nothing outlined here is designed to discourage graduates or their families and guests from dressing in the way they desire. Many of you have asked for guidance on what is traditional for the many events surrounding Commencement. The list below is designed to help you have an understanding of what most attendees have traditionally worn at our Commencement events. We also suggest that you consider Moses Brown’s Quaker values, including simplicity, as you choose your wardrobe.
UPPER SCHOOL ACADEMIC AWARDS
Seniors are all required to attend the awards ceremony and are asked to dress in a semi-formal manner. This could include some combination of slacks, skirts, dresses, collared shirts, ties and jackets. Athletic wear, casual clothing, athletic shoes and flip flops would not be appropriate for this occasion.
SENIOR PROJECT PRESENTATIONS
Seniors should wear nice clothing, with allowance made for any presentation requiring particular clothing or unusual movements.
SENIOR CELEBRATION
Seniors, parents and guardians are asked to wear festive clothing befitting the celebratory nature of the event. While we look forward to seeing everyone shine, keep in mind that we will be outdoors for the beginning of the event (weather permitting) and dress accordingly.
PROM
Prom is, by definition, an occasion to dress up and show off. Seniors, Juniors and their guests will be wearing a variety of dresses – long, short and in-between – and a mix of suits and tuxedos. Students should wear what makes them feel good and remember that you don’t need to spend a lot to look and feel great!
GRADUATION REHEARSAL
Seniors – This is it, your last chance to come to MB dressed however you’d like. You’ll be outside, so be prepared.
BACCALAUREATE RECEPTION & BACCALAUREATE
The Baccalaureate is a candlelight Meeting for Worship, preceded by an outdoor reception with light refreshments served. Seniors and parents/guardians have traditionally worn dark, semi-formal attire. Keep in mind that the event begins outside, so keep the weather in mind when selecting your clothing.
COMMENCEMENT
Moses Brown graduates do not wear caps and gowns. Students traditionally wear white or light color clothing, navy, or light-colored jackets or suits.
FAQ
Questions & Answers for Senior Families
Q: I want to make lunch reservations. How long does the graduation ceremony last?
A: The ceremony typically ends between 12:15-12:30 pm and then there is time for mingling and photos so it's best to make reservations for lunch no earlier than 1:30/1:45 pm.
Q: When does my child need to have their tile done?
A: March 1st. If the deadline has passed, students should see Lawrence Timmins with questions.
Q: Can I order my senior a class ring?
A: Yes, they’re not mandatory but if your senior would like one, it’s not too late to order. Link here.
Q: When would we find out if our child would be getting an award at Academic Awards Day?
A: Typically 2 weeks before the event (which will be held on Thursday, May 29, 1:30-3:00pm in the Fieldhouse). Mary Pat Radeka sends an email to parents/guardians letting them know that their student will be honored and that it’s a surprise. All parents are welcome to attend but only those whose students are getting an award will be notified.
Q: What types of awards are handed out at Academic Awards Day?
A: Mix of traditional achievement awards for subjects/disciplines and other named prizes that have been established through the years for students of particular interests. Additionally, there are faculty awards handed out to some students for their unique contributions that they bring to MB.
Q: When will the schedule for Senior Project presentations be finalized and sent out?
A: Senior Project Presentations will take place on June 3-6. A detailed presentation schedule will be made available in May.
Q: Are the seniors involved in the planning of the Senior Celebration?
A: This event has always been about the school and the parent event committee partnering to provide a wonderful and fun experience for the students that day. Seniors are involved in planning the last day of class celebration and prom.
Q: Is there anything special I should know to help my student prepare for prom?
A: Prom is held on a Monday. Mondays are often days when hair salons, makeup studios, nail salons, etc. are closed. Please help your student plan ahead so all of their needs are able to be met.
Q: What happens at MB before Prom on campus – pictures?
A: There is now an informal tradition where students meet up at MB to take pictures together on the Front Circle This typically happens until 6:30pm when students need to leave to get to Prom on time.
Q: For Commencement, is there Handicap parking or assistance for any guests that may need that support.
A: Contact Mary Pat Radeka mradeka@mosesbrown.org – she’ll provide details for handicap parking and we’ll have golf carts available to help guests get to the location if needed.
Q: Can I reserve seats for Commencement?
A: All seats are first come, first served. You are encouraged to arrive early if you want to have your choice of seating (but not too early!).
Q: Do we need to purchase a yearbook?
A: No! All seniors (& upper school students) will receive a yearbook at the end of the year, free of charge.
