Girls Lacrosse Coach Brian Williams hails from Endwell, NY where he was introduced to lacrosse as a youth while playing for the Louis N. Picciano Boys Club. He would go on to play attack for the Maine-Endwell High School Spartans under Upstate Hall of Famer, Coach Gordon Pollard. Williams began his coaching career in high school, coaching youth teams during his junior and senior years. Devoid of a lacrosse program at the time, he attended the State University of NY at Delhi to study computer science. He then moved from Albany to Providence in 1999. Remaining a faithful student of the game, he entered the next phase of his coaching career the moment his daughters could pick up a stick. In 2009 he joined Providence Youth Lacrosse and from 2010-2013 led the organization as its Girls Program Director. From 2012-2014, he coached club teams for New England Select Lacrosse League and Next Level Lacrosse, and since 2015, has been the Girls Director for Moses Brown’s summer lacrosse camps. He founded Team 401 Lacrosse in 2017, a select clinic series designed for players seeking elite instruction. Williams was selected as MB’s head coach in 2015 and since that time has recorded 5 consecutive RI Division I State Championships and an overall record of 78-10. Due to an aggressive non-league schedule, the Quakers were ranked 224th in the nation according to Inside Lacrosse last season. Williams is humbled to have coached 17 US Lacrosse All-Americans, 13 US Lacrosse All-Academic and 18 Providence Journal All-State selections, with 13 players currently in the NCAA. In 2017, the team received the RI Division I Sportsmanship Award. He is a two-time recipient of the National Federation of High Schools Coach of the Year Award and is a US Lacrosse Level 3 Certified Women’s Coach. Using a holistic coaching style, he has created a winning culture that is highly competitive in an environment that is fun, inclusive and supportive. He considers himself fortunate to be a part of the Moses Brown community and is deeply appreciative of all the support that he has received.

Kelena played lacrosse for ten consecutive years, from middle school through college. She competed in the ISL while at Buckingham Brown & Nichols and in the NESCAC with Division III Wesleyan University. Kelena brought agility and strong defensive skills to her teams in both divisions and enjoyed the sense of balance and sisterhood lacrosse brought to her life. Kelena returned to the lacrosse community as mom of Skyler Maxwell’26 who learned the fundaments of the game with a pair of hand me down sticks from MB alums Meredith Langmuir’20 and Natasha Gorriaran ’21. Skyler currently plays midfield for the MB middle school lacrosse A team, Mass Elite, and Providence Youth Lacrosse. Kelena’s passion for women’s lacrosse is now brought to the wonderful young women in the JV program, where she has brought a focus on joy, team connection, and skill development. Kelena is thrilled by the opportunity to collaborate with coach Brian Williams and to share the turf with the legendary Varsity program.
