Frank Fede Jr was born and grew up in Rhode Island. He first learned to skate in the Johnston Hockey Association and worked his way through the different teams that Rhode Island Hockey had to offer. Frank enrolled at Mount Saint Charles as a 7th grader and was able to play for United States Hockey Hall of Fame Coach Bill Belisle and Coaches Dave Belisle and Tony Ciresi. While at Mount St. Charles Frank helped lead Mount to 3 State Championships while earning 2 All-Sate selections, led the Interscholastic League in scoring, and earned finals MVP and team MVP honors in his senior year. Frank accepted an appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point where he played for the famous Coach Rob Riley whose father Jack Riley was a United States Hockey Hall of Fame inductee and former 1960 Olympic Gold Medal coach and then 36 year coach at Army. Frank was a member of the the all- time winningest classes in Army Hockey history with 78 wins in his four years. He was named the Hal Beukama MVP in his senior year. Frank was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army Field Artillery upon graduation, and was stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia, Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and later with the 10th Mountain Division in Fort Drum, New York. Frank was recently inducted into the Mount St. Charles Athletic Hall of Fame, as both an athlete, as well as with the Mount Saint Charles 1993 Sate Championship team that went 27-1-1 and went undefeated in the Rhode Island Interscholastic League. Frank has coached hockey in Rhode Island at various levels and with various organizations for the past 23 years. His teams have won numerous state, division, league, tournament and playoff championships during his time and he has coached and or played with many NHL, college, prep school, and high school players.
