Larry grew up in Woonsocket,RI, playing Little League baseball and travel ice hockey. He attended Mt. St. Charles Academy where he lettered in football, hockey, and baseball for 3 years. (Freshmen were not allowed to play varsity at that time). In football, Larry played quarterback, running back, wide receiver, safety, did the punting, ran back kick-offs,and in his senior year was named captain. He was one of the top scorers in the state in his jr. and sr. years. Larry also centered the first line on the hockey team and was the leading scorer and captain. In baseball, Larry played 3rd base and in his senior year won the MVP award. In 1964 Larry was awarded the Frank Meyer Memorial award as Mt. St. Charles’ best athlete.
Larry went on to Providence College where he played hockey. Larry played for 3 years on PC’s top line graduating in 1968. In his junior year, he started coaching at the local level and in 1976 legendary Mt. St. Charles hockey coach, Bill Belisle, asked Larry to be his assistant. Larry coached at MSC for 4 years having coached numerous Div. I and professional players. In 1985, Larry was part of the coaching staff of the Brown University Women’s Ice Hockey team which won the Ivy League championship. In 1997, Larry was appointed head hockey coach at Moses Brown and remained in this role until 2016, returning in 2017-2018. Under Coach Tremblay, hockey teams at MB won over 200 games, received numerous sportsmanship awards and won 3 state championships. Over the years, Larry also coached shot put, freshmen boys’ soccer, and golf as assistant to none other than the famous Ransom Griffin. He is now the head coach of the varsity golf team and was named coach of the year for the 2023 season.
