MOSES is structured as a peer ministry. With the exception of the directors and a number of other adult coaches, trips are run by student leaders. These Student Leaders, who serve as either Team Shepherds or Team Directors, are really the ministers of MOSES, seeking to teach, encourage, mentor, and meet spiritual and emotional needs of the other participants. The other participants are those who sign up to come on our trips for personal interest and growth, often because a friend, parent or youth leader encouraged them.
Do you or others in your group need a break from the pressures of school? How does tearing down walls, throwing things out of windows, painting a gym, or dry-walling sound? Nothing helps refresh better than getting away from home and doing a little hard work mixed with a lot of fun! Our weekend trips are designed for youth groups to serve together and strengthen their bond in Jesus Christ. Youth leaders are given the opportunity to get to know their youth better without having to concentrate on logistics and planning.
The trips typically begin Friday afternoon and end Sunday evening. At our destination, usually either Chicago or Detroit, you have the opportunity to get acquainted on a deeper level with your youth group and our Team Leaders, work all day on various projects (demolition, clean-up, painting, light construction, sorting items for thrift stores and more), spend some time exploring the city, and in worship. All trips are cross-cultural. Our goal is to serve our host church or organization according to their needs, while equipping ourselves to serve Jesus better.
